BLT's "Tommy" opens this weekend.

Burien Little Theatre, Tommy poster

Tomorrow is opening night of Burien Little Theatre's production of "The Who's Tommy," the musical work written by Pete Townsend which first appeared as a Who album in 1969 and was expanded, seven years later, into a film by Ken Russell. "Tommy" was first in the lineage of "rock operas," and like Pink Floyd's "The Wall," it also addresses themes of British post-war disillusionment, staged in a hallucinatory fearful post-war Britain where young boys are not safe from abuse from authority figures.

From BLT's description:

The one-hour piece, which spans this famous woman's experiences - from her childhood in Kiev through a life of state in Israel - was envisioned and written by Joan Wolfberg, who performs as Ms. Meir in BLT's production, which is co-presented by The Highline Historical Society.
